Job Description

About us

One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we're on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We're looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.

What you'll do

  • Own development and integration of multi‑year space infrastructure strategies, aligning technical capabilities, capacity planning, and investment priorities to business and mission objectives
  • Translate ambiguous, high‑level goals into clear execution roadmaps, milestones, and decision points spanning multiple programs and teams
  • Serve as the single‑threaded integrator across infrastructure programs, ensuring alignment between engineering, operations, finance, supply chain, and mission partners
  • Identify cross‑program dependencies, risks, and constraints; drive alignment and resolution to protect critical path delivery
  • Lead preparation of executive‑level decision materials, including trade studies, investment options, scenario analyses, and risk assessments
  • Partner with other directors and senior leaders to align demand, capacity, workforce, capital, and infrastructure plans with forecasted mission needs and growth scenarios
  • Establish and continuously improve functional operating mechanisms, planning reviews, integration forums, readiness assessments, and metrics that drive sustained performance, accountability, and transparency
  • Surface systemic risks and execution gaps early; frame options and recommend path‑forward decisions to senior leadership
  • Influence roadmap sequencing, resourcing strategies, and priority trade‑offs across programs without direct ownership
  • Participate in development of company level planning, integration, and evaluation methods; determine how they are applied within Space Infrastructure and lead major process transformations across the function
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert and advisor on infrastructure integration, execution maturity, and long‑range planning
  • Own functional resource and budget planning, balancing current delivery commitments with longterm capability, talent, and infrastructure investments
  • Lead, develop, and mentor managers and senior professionals; set clear expectations, build succession and capability plans, and create an environment of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

The day-to-day

  • Own the strategy and performance outcomes for the Space Infrastructure strategy and integration function, aligning technical capabilities, capacity, investment priorities, and execution plans with business and mission objectives
  • Translate long-range objectives into integrated multi-year roadmaps, operating plans, priorities, metrics, and decision points across the Space Infrastructure portfolio
  • Lead and develop a team of managers and senior professionals responsible for strategy, planning, integration, and execution, establishing clear accountability and building organizational capability
  • Partner with engineering, operations, programs, finance, supply chain, and other functional leaders to align priorities, resources, dependencies, and execution across programs
  • Drive portfolio-level planning and integration, identifying cross-program dependencies, risks, constraints, and opportunities and ensuring issues are resolved at the appropriate organizational level
  • Shape investment, resource, capacity, and sequencing decisions by developing clear alternatives, trade studies, scenarios, and recommendations for senior leadership
  • Establish and lead operating mechanisms including strategic planning reviews, portfolio integration forums, readiness assessments, and performance reviews that improve execution and organizational transparency
  • Represent Space Infrastructure strategy and integration in senior leadership forums, providing clear recommendations on priorities, trade-offs, risks, and investment decisions
  • Lead functional resource and budget planning, balancing near-term program commitments with longer-term capability, workforce, infrastructure, and technology needs
  • Define and continuously improve the methods, processes, tools, data, and performance measures used to plan and integrate Space Infrastructure activities
  • Develop managers and emerging leaders, strengthen succession and organizational capability, and create an environment of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a functional thought leader for Space Infrastructure strategy and integration, identifying opportunities to improve how the organization plans, makes decisions, scales capabilities, and executes across the portfolio

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, program management, systems integration, or execution leadership supporting complex technical or infrastructure‑heavy programs
  • Demonstrated experience leading a substantial function or department, including management of managers and/or large multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to develop and drive multi‑year strategies across multiple programs or portfolios
  • Strong systems‑level understanding of hardware‑intensive or infrastructure‑based program lifecycles
  • Track record of influencing senior leaders and cross‑functional teams through data, judgment, and structured problem solving
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including development of executive‑level narratives and decision support materials
  • Ability to independently define problems, structure ambiguity, and deliver high‑impact outcomes with minimal oversight
  • Comfort navigating trade‑offs involving cost, schedule, risk, and long‑term scalability

What will help you on the job

  • Experience supporting space, aerospace, defense, or other high‑reliability infrastructure environments
  • Familiarity with demand planning, capacity planning, and capital investment decision processes
  • Background in systems engineering, operations, or large‑scale technical integration
  • Experience working across supplier‑heavy or partner‑dependent ecosystems
  • Experience building goals, metrics, talent systems, and operating rhythms that improve organizational performance and operational excellence
  • Ability to act as a calm, credible integrator in fast‑moving or high‑stakes situations
  • Ability to communicate a compelling functional vision and strategy to executives, peer leaders, managers, and technical teams and translate it into measurable execution
