The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Director- Student Life. The position requires a master's degree in student support services or educational administration/leadership, a New Jersey School Administrator Certificate (preferred), a New Jersey Principal Certificate, and a New Jersey Student Support Services Certificate (preferred). The candidate must have a minimum of three years of successful experience as a principal or district administrator and four years of successful experience in student support services. Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards, the CASEL SEL Framework, mental health and wellness programming, crisis intervention, the ASCA National Model, compliance, legal oversight, state/federal regulations, and programming related to intervention & referral services, Section 504, behavioral threat assessment, McKinney-Vento, HIB, Title IX, college and career readiness, and substance prevention, education, and referrals is required. Experience in the procurement process around request for proposals and quotes for student support programming and initiatives is also necessary. Demonstrated knowledge of student support services programming, tiered supports, effective counseling, and support services methods is required. The ability to create a district-level professional development program and maintain a positive learning environment is also required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary. A required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status are required.
Responsibilities include management and coaching of instructional staff, curriculum, instruction, and assessment, organizational leadership, and student support services improvement plan. The position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services and has a salary range of $156,000-$171,000. Employment period is 12 month calendar, and union affiliation is City Association of Supervisors and Administrators (C.A.S.A.).
