JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director - Support Services is responsible for strategic leadership, operational oversight, and performance management of key non-clinical departments, including Environmental Services (EVS), Food & Nutrition Services, Patient Transportation, Facilities Management, Valet Services, and Switchboard/Communications. The role serves as the primary liaison for a contracted service provider, ensuring delivery excellence, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and achievement of defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Director drives a culture of safety, service excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement in alignment with organizational goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures for all assigned departmental operations.
  • Promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and service excellence.
  • Collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders to support patient flow, infection prevention, and overall patient experience.
  • Identifies inconsistencies among plans and proposes corrective measures.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for key non-clinical departments, including Environmental Services, Food & Nutrition Services, Patient Transportation, Facilities Management, Valet Services, and Switchboard/Communications.
  • Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization's overall mission.
  • Maintains responsibility for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Manages team members, which includes orientation, development and evaluation of team members, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing, and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates team member's performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to staff, recommends education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.
  • Maintains responsibility for the fiscal management of department and assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Health Care Administration, Related field, Security Management Required or
  • Four years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree Required

Minimum Work Experience
  • 5 years Progressive experience in healthcare operations or support service. Required and
  • 5 years Experience managing vendor and contractual relationships. Required and
  • 3 years Leadership experience in a health care or hospital setting. Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of healthcare, excellent communication and presentation skills, organized, honest, poise under pressure, optimistic and enthusiastic, strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of human resource management; program development; fiscal management skills; and familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Skill in and ability to facilitate leader, mediate, and negotiation sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, productive and professional manner.
  • Ability to analyze and think strategically and develop growth strategies.
  • Strong business and financial acumen and demonstrated comfort interpreting data.
