A 204-bed hospital in Loxahatchee, FL (Palm Beach County) — a Primary Stroke Center with a Level II NICU, a full-service Children's Hospital, and a robust surgical program featuring nine operating rooms (including one hybrid OR), five Xi robots, and approximately 5,500 cases per year with volumes continuing to increase — is seeking a Director of Surgical Services.
The role. Reporting directly to the hospital COO, the Director of Surgical Services leads a department of approximately 84 FTEs across multiple service lines, with direct reports that include an OR Manager, PACU Lead, Pre-Op Lead, and SPD Supervisor. The Director is responsible for oversight of all surgical services operations, including volume forecasting, patient throughput, staffing, and budget management across a high-volume environment encompassing orthopedics, bariatrics, neurosurgery, GYN, and pediatric cases. This leader drives clinical quality by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices, managing clinical practice variation, and pursuing relevant accreditations and benchmarks. The Director partners with the administrative team and physicians to enhance existing service lines and develop new offerings, while ensuring effective labor management, supply and equipment utilization, and cost reduction strategies. Building and sustaining an engaged, high-performing team through coaching, development, and intentional talent management is a central part of the role.
