Director - Technical Accounting Lead

Seeking a senior accounting professional to lead technical accounting, US GAAP policy within a complex financial services organization. This individual will serve as a key accounting advisor to senior leadership and business partners, providing guidance on complex transactions, new products, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert on US GAAP, researching and advising on complex technical accounting matters.
• Evaluate the accounting implications of new products, transactions, M&A activity, and strategic initiatives.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures and assess the impact of new and proposed accounting standards.
• Provide technical guidance across financial instruments, derivatives, revenue recognition, consolidation, fair value, and hedge accounting.
• Manage and develop a team of two professionals responsible for statutory reporting.
• Partner with Treasury, Tax, Risk, Legal, Operations, and business leadership on accounting matters.
• Support SOX compliance, financial reporting controls, and quarterly/annual audit activities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant technical accounting experience within financial services.
• CPA required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience researching and applying complex accounting standards.
• Experience with financial services products, including derivatives, structured products, asset management, and investment vehicles.
• Experience overseeing statutory financial statements and external audits; Big 4 experience preferred.
