    Description

    A 340+ bed regional medical center in Overland Park is seeking an experienced Director of Women’s Services to lead its comprehensive women’s and children’s programs. This facility includes a Level III NICU, Maternal Fetal Health Center, antepartum unit, labor and delivery services, and a Level II Trauma Center with accredited stroke and chest pain programs. The organization supports approximately 3,500 births annually and is committed to delivering high-quality, family-centered care.

    Position Overview

    The Director of Women’s Services provides 24-hour leadership and accountability for nursing operations across all assigned women’s health units. Reporting to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, this role is responsible for strategic oversight, clinical excellence, staffing, and operational performance within a high-acuity maternal and neonatal care environment.

    This position works closely with physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care delivery while maintaining fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency across the service line.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide executive-level nursing leadership for women’s and children’s services.
    • Oversee clinical operations across labor and delivery, antepartum, NICU, and related maternal health units.
    • Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
    • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary leaders to optimize patient outcomes.
    • Manage staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation for assigned service lines.
    • Support performance improvement, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
    • Lead recruitment, retention, and professional development of nursing staff.
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence in maternal and neonatal care.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 5 years of recent (within the last year) leadership experience as a manager or director in Women’s Services.
    • Experience in a high-acuity facility supporting at least 3,500 births annually required.
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
    • Current Registered Nurse license in applicable state(s) or active compact RN license required.
    • Certification in specialty area preferred.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification required and must be maintained.
    • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
