About this position We are looking for an experienced committed and diligent civil engineer for project coordination risk analysis and uncertainty management to support the coordination of the Ready and Resilient Americas initiative RRA and the DRM Action Plan 2026-2030 and the development of a platform of risk calculation tools with a quantitative approach. You will provide technical support for monitoring and following up on the implementation of the RRA coordinating with Bank specialists clients and external partners and supporting the technical development of multi-hazard models for the risk assessment platform. You will also participate in managing and updating the RiskHUB website and community of practice.

You will be part of the multidisciplinary team of the Disaster Risk Management Unit CSDDRM which is made up of specialists and expert consultants in various branches related to disaster risk management economics geology engineering architecture environment etc.. Among other purposes the DRM Unit develops studies on disaster risks that serve as a basis for defining resilient public investment programs and projects. It also assists the Banks clients in finding technical solutions for resilient engineering including specific risk mitigation works.

What youll do Prepare reports and presentations according to the progress of the implementation of the Ready and Resilient initiative and the Disaster Risk Management Action Plan.

Provide technical support in the development of the risk platform including non-traditional hazards heat waves forest fires and probabilistic methodologies for risk estimation and uncertainty management.

Advise on the development of sectoral tools for the identification of risk and critical points in infrastructure and social systems.

Support the management and update of the RISKHUB web page.

Support the update of the IDB GIBHUB with the different codes developed under RiskHUB.

Provide support for the development of the RiskHUB community of practice.

Conduct training for the Banks specialists and its clients in probabilistic disaster risk analysis and uncertainty management.

Develop and review analytic documents about the Ready and Resilient Americas Initiative and the DRM Action Plan.

Provide technical support for the design management implementation supervision and evaluation of technical cooperations and programs within the framework of the Ready and Resilient Americas Initiative and the DRM Action Plan.

What youll need Education Masters degree in Civil engineering or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.

Experience At least 5 years of progressive experience in research and analysis for the comprehensive management of disaster risk due to natural hazards which includes probabilistic risk models early warning systems and emergency management.

Languages Proficiency in English and Spanish spoken and written is required.

Type of contract and duration International consultant Full-Time 12 months up to 48 months subject to eligibility.
