The Dish Room Technician I (DRT) is responsible for the cleaning, disassembly, reassembly and sterilization of supplies, equipment and reusable tools used in the human tissue processes .
Ensure adequate supplies for sterile tissue processing are always available in the lab. Comply with all company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Principles of aseptic technique shall be used, and routine infection control practices shall be followed. The DRT will ensure that reusable medical devices are in proper working order, perform biological indicators, chemical indicators and other quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor. DRT are on their feet, walking or standing for much of their shift. They may be required to bend, reach, lift and move equipment and supplies. DRT are exposed to strong chemicals and bio-hazardous materials while doing their jobs. Their work areas can be noisy and busy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Perform a variety of dish room tasks with a focus on providing a sterile processing environment and supplies.
- Perform dish room duties such as preparing, washing, and sterilizing lab instruments, glassware, containers, wrapping, etc.
- Perform custodial duties to ensure the dish room, and orderly always and maintain cleaning logs, per company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Inspect instruments and supplies for defects, lot numbers, and expiration dates; ensure equipment in all areas is in proper working order.
- Perform chart review; ensure all required documentation is present.
- Answer telephone calls and provide information regarding the status of work.
- Any other tasks are assigned by the manager or supervisor.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: - HS Diploma or GED
- Prefer previous lab assistant/aide experience in commercial or academic lab.
- Prefer minimum 1 year experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), proper lab techniques and practices (aseptic practices, sterile gowning, and gloving) and proper SOP documentation practices.
