Summary of Position:
Thoroughly washes and sanitizes tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment using the proper techniques and materials. Keep the dish room and equipment clean and organized.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Report to work in a neat and clean uniform with well-groomed hair and acceptable personal hygiene. Consistently report or shifts as scheduled and be on time.
Thoroughly washes and sanitizes dishes, glasses, utensils, pots and pans, etc. by utilizing proper cleaning materials and methods. Operates dishwashing equipment.
Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
Assist food service staff with collecting dirty dishes and carts and returning them to the kitchen.
Assists in cleaning complete dietary area. Washes and sanitizes food service carts, cooking area, etc.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Load run and unload dish machine.
Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware.
Keep dish room clean and organized.
Bag and haul dish room trash to dumpster at designed times.
Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
Clean food preparation and production areas as required.
Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
Complete all assigned side work by the end of your shift, check out with the manager before clocking out.
Other duties may be assigned when not already occupied with the above functions.
Have the ability to obtain and maintain a state/county applicable food handlers card.
Responsible to contribute and participate in our Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
Qualifications:
Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers using units of weight, measurement, and volume.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, or oral, form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in situations.
Speak clearly and persuasively in both positive and negative situations. Listen and get clarification. Respond well to questions. Speak effectively with guests, coworkers and management.
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
Be able to frequently and safely lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Be able to work in hot, wet, humid and loud environment for long periods of time.
Be physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
