    DISHWASHER/UTILITY PERSON

    Job Description

    Status:  PT 20-25 hours per week includidng every other weekend

    Sftart Date: 8/11/2026

    Supervisor:

    Food Service Supervisor

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma preferred. Minimum of 10th grade education required. Previous experience in the Dietary department of a long term care facility preferred. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

    Requirements:

    Compliance with applicable health laws and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to Covid-19 and influenza vaccinations.

    Purpose:

    The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the timely and sanitary preparation of dishes and utensils (including pots and pans) for the Dietary department. This position is also responsible for cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dietary storerooms as directed by the Food Service Supervisor.

    Functions:

    Ability to follow oral directions.

    Ability to follow written directions.

    Ability to maintain steady work pace to produce an adequate supply of clean kitchen utensils and dishes.

    Ability to scrape soiled dishes.

    Ability to place dishes into dish machine.

    Ability to operate an automated dish washing solution dispensing system.

    Ability to supervise travel of dishes through dish machine.

    Ability to sort clean dishes.

    Ability to transport dishes to storage area.

    Ability to clean work areas in accordance with established proceduers and to complete cleaning tasks as outlined inthe cleaning schedules or as assigned by Food Service Supervisor.

    Ability to assess problems and breakdowns in dishwashing machinery.

    Ability to attend in-service training programs for Dietary employees.

    Ability to observe all department and facility policies and procedures, including: infection control, sanitation, safety, personal hygeine, and uniform requirements.

    Ability to follow Residents' Rights policies at all times. This includes the ability to maintain the confidentiality of resident care information.

    Ability to come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

    Ability to carry out assigned duties as directed by the Food Service Supervisor.

    Ability to complete forms and gather data in an accurate manner for submission to the Food Service Supervisor.

    Ability to report all hazardous conditions or equipment to the Food Service Supervisor immediately.

    Ability to assist in inventorying food and supplies as required.

    Ability to recommend to the Food Service Supervisor any equipment and supply needs of the department.

    Ability to organize storerooms in an orderly fashion and to stock items according to the FIFO system.

    Ability to empty and clean garbage containers.

    Ability to deliver and pick up tray cart for the nursing unit.

    Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aide of a mechanical device):

    Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.

    Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

    Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that wil enable these senses to function adequately so tha the requirements of this position can be fully met.

    Must function independently, have flexibiloity, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, and support agencies.

    Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.

    Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.

    May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (50) pounds.

    Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.
