Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 Dependent Upon Experience
Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all transportation and delivery operations, including over-the-road (OTR) routes, dairy store deliveries, home delivery service, and warehouse pick and inbound shipment activity. This role ensures drivers, equipment, and shipments are scheduled efficiently and on time, maintains accurate documentation for billing, payroll, and compliance, and serves as the primary point of coordination between drivers, warehouse staff, and store/customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
- OTR Scheduling: Plan, build, and adjust over-the-road driver routes and schedules to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries while maximizing efficiency and minimizing deadhead miles.
- Dairy Store Scheduling: Coordinate delivery schedules to dairy store locations, ensuring proper sequencing, store delivery windows, and product freshness requirements are met.
- Home Delivery Scheduling: Build and manage home delivery routes, confirming delivery windows with customers and adjusting routes in real time for delays, add-ons, or cancellations.
- Warehouse Pick Schedules: Coordinate with warehouse personnel to schedule order picks in alignment with outbound delivery and load times.
- Inbound Shipment Schedules / Dock Times: Schedule and confirm inbound shipment appointments and dock times with vendors and carriers to prevent dock congestion and delays.
- Bills of Lading (BOLs): Generate, review, and verify BOLs for accuracy, ensuring proper documentation accompanies every load.
- Driver Payroll Support: Track driver hours, routes, and stops to support accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Insurance Claims: Document and report incidents, accidents, or cargo claims, and assist with gathering information needed for insurance claim processing.
- Handheld Integrity & Staging: Maintain accuracy of handheld/scanner devices and data, and oversee proper staging of orders and loads prior to dispatch.
- BC Movements: Coordinate and track bulk container (BC) movements between facilities, ensuring timely transfers and accurate inventory records.
- OTR Billing: Prepare and review OTR billing documentation to ensure accurate, timely invoicing of completed loads.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant logistics, supply chain, or transportation coursework preferred.
- 1+ years of dispatch, transportation, scheduling, or logistics experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple schedules and priorities simultaneously.
- Clear, professional communication skills for coordinating with drivers, warehouse staff, store contacts, and customers.
- Proficiency with dispatch software, handheld/scanning systems, and standard office software (Excel, email, etc.).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond calmly to schedule changes or disruptions.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and BOL documentation a plus.

Work Environment & Schedule
This role is primarily office/dispatch-center based, with regular communication by phone, radio, and computer systems. Early morning, evening, or weekend hours may be required depending on delivery and route schedules.
