    Job Description:

    If so, the Georgia Forestry Commission's southern dispatch center may be perfect for you! We are looking for a few exceptional people to be the safety line for our wildland firefighters. You will need to communicate well, be able to handle multiple phone calls, and exercise good judgment. Typing skills are essential!


    Part time hours make this position ideal for working around school schedules and other commitments. As an added bonus, you'll have an inside track on promotional opportunities elsewhere in our agency.


    •    Location: Tifton, GA
    •    Shift: Midnight shift
    •    Hours: Hours will vary between 10:00 PM–7:00 AM and 11:00 PM–6:00 AM due to the 29-hour weekly limit.
    •    OJT Pay: $13.50 per hour
    •    Training: Training will be completed on the morning shift, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.
    •    Post-Training Pay: Once training is completed and the employee transitions to the midnight shift, the pay will increase to $15.50 per hour.


    Your duties will include:

    - Dispatching wildland fire equipment and personnel to wildfires and other emergencies.

    - Receiving and processing burn permit requests.

    - Dispatching appropriate personnel to investigate smoke complaints.

    - Answering general requests for information and other services, or connecting the customer to the right person.
