    Job Summary

    Grand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Distance Learning Secondary Social Studies Teacher to join our team. This full-time position entails delivering high-quality social studies instruction to students in a virtual learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of social studies curriculum, be proficient in using digital learning platforms, and demonstrate effective communication and engagement strategies to foster a positive learning experience for all students.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive social studies curriculum tailored for a distance learning environment.
    • Utilize various digital tools and resources to deliver instruction, assess student progress, and provide timely feedback.
    • Create a supportive and inclusive virtual classroom atmosphere that promotes student participation and collaboration.
    • Monitor student performance and adjust instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and preferences.
    • Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding academic progress, expectations, and resources for support.
    • Collaborate with fellow educators and support staff to enhance the overall educational experience and address student needs.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in distance learning and social studies education.
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
    • Actively contribute to school initiatives and community outreach programs to promote social studies education and civic engagement.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
    • Valid teaching certification for secondary social studies (RX) in the state of Michigan.
    • Experience in distance learning or online education is highly desirable.
    • Strong understanding of social studies content, including history, geography, economics, and civics.
    • Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom, Canvas, etc.).
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the educational landscape.
