Distribution and Shipping/Receiving Supervisor

Schedule: Full-time with overtime and weekend availability based on operational needs

What You’ll Own
- Daily oversight of warehouse, shipping, and receiving activities—prioritize, assign, and verify completion.
- Supervision and training of a 3–4 person warehouse team; provide clear direction and feedback.
- Scheduling of carrier pickups, inbound deliveries, and outbound shipments; communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Creation and control of shipping/receiving paperwork: bills of lading, packing lists, shipping records, and receiving documents.
- Verification of quantities, quality/condition, labeling, and destinations for all movements in and out.
- Hands-on equipment operation—forklifts and clamp trucks—to load, unload, stage, store, and move materials.
- Organization of storage areas; maintain proper labeling and staging protocols.
- Inventory accuracy support via cycle counts and root-cause analysis of discrepancies.
- Cross-functional coordination with production and other departments to streamline material flow.
- Proactive communication with carriers, drivers, vendors, and internal teams to solve logistics challenges.
- Rapid resolution of shipping, receiving, documentation, and inventory issues.
- Enforcement of safety, equipment guidelines, housekeeping, and company policies.
- Regular equipment checks and prompt reporting of maintenance or safety issues.
- Continuous improvement initiatives to enhance layout, workflow, inventory control, and outbound efficiency.
- Flex support during peak demand, absences, and other operational surges.
Must-Have Background
- Experience in warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, or logistics.
- Prior experience leading or supervising a warehouse team.
- Demonstrated safe operation of forklifts and clamp trucks.
- Experience coordinating inbound and outbound freight.
- Familiarity with bills of lading and related documentation.
- Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and shift with changing production and shipping plans.
- Exceptional attention to detail with inventory and shipping paperwork.
- Comfort with warehouse or inventory systems and Microsoft Office.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Availability for overtime and weekends as required.
Nice to Have
- 3+ years in warehouse, shipping, receiving, or logistics roles.
- Background in manufacturing, converting, printing, packaging, or similar industrial environments.
- Current forklift or powered industrial truck certification.
- Hands-on experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and WMS tools.
- Associate degree or training in logistics, supply chain, operations, or related study.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work in an active warehouse/manufacturing setting.
- Stand and walk for long periods; frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and material handling.
- Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Work overtime, weekends, and adjusted hours based on shipping, receiving, and production requirements.
