Join our team and lead electric distribution design for major Department of Transportation (DOT) initiatives-road expansions, bridge upgrades, railroad crossings, and large-scale utility relocations that directly shape the communities we live in.

What You'll Do

As a Field Distribution Specialist, you'll lead the design and coordination of electric distribution systems supporting major DOT and public infrastructure projects.

Project Leadership & Design

• Lead distribution design for road widening, bridge expansions, railroad projects, and utility relocations
• Translate DOT plans, civil drawings, and ROW maps into clear, constructible designs
• Develop complete, high-quality construction packages that meet NESC and DOT standards

Field & Technical Expertise

• Perform site assessments, field data collection, and existing condition verification
• Support accurate relocation planning and constructability reviews
• Apply strong knowledge of distribution systems, pole loading, and compliance requirements

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the go-to contact between DOT agencies, utilities, and contractors
• Participate in design reviews, planning sessions, and pre-construction meetings
• Coordinate permitting, right-of-way activities, and multi-utility efforts

Team Collaboration & Mentorship

• Mentor and support other designers and field team members
• Share best practices and elevate technical capabilities across the team
• Help drive alignment across complex, multi-project environments

What You Bring

Core Experience

• 5+ years of electric distribution design experience
• Hands-on experience with DOT or public infrastructure projects (road, bridge, or utility relocation work)
• Strong understanding of distribution systems and relocation processes
• Ability to interpret civil drawings, DOT plans, and ROW maps

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of NESC standards and compliance requirements
• Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or similar design tools
• Familiarity with pole loading analysis (PoleForeman or similar tools preferred)
• Field experience with site verification and data collection

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience participating in DOT meetings and design reviews
• Experience in safety audits or compliance management
• Experience leading or mentoring team members

Work Environment & Flexibility

• Hybrid field + remote role: Design from home and visit project sites as needed
• No requirement to report to a central office for daily work
• Fieldwork includes site walks, data collection, and coordination with project stakeholders
• Office work focuses on design development using GIS, AutoCAD, and related tools

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Covington, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
