Distribution Dispatcher Associate II

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a Distribution Dispatcher Associate II to coordinate field crews, respond to outages and emergencies, and support the safe restoration of AEP's electric distribution system. This onsite, safety-sensitive role requires strong decision-making, communication, and multitasking skills in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities:

• Promotes and follows company safety, compliance, and operating procedures.
• Operates company communication equipment effectively.
• Tracks field crews and distribution system activities.
• Dispatches personnel to outage and emergency situations.
• Coordinates and authorize safe restoration of distribution facilities.
• Maintains accurate outage, equipment, and operational records.

NOTE: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents (Green Card holders) to be considered for this position.

Job Type: 1 year contract, potential extensions/perm

Work Set Up: Rotating 14-week schedule

• Day: 6 AM-6 PM
• Night: 6 PM-6 AM
• Evening: 2 PM-10 PM
• Reserve: 7 AM-5 PM
• On-Call: Varies; overtime as needed

Qualifications:

• Associate degree minimum
• Able to make critical decisions under pressure
• Comfortable handling multiple situations simultaneously
• Onsite in Fort Wayne
• Must live/be willing to relocate within 30 minutes
• Must be available for rotating shifts and call-outs
• Prior dispatching experience is a plus
