Contractor – Distribution System Studies & DER Integration Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking two experienced contractors to support the Distributed Power Systems Group in the analysis, planning, and integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). The selected candidates will support hosting capacity analysis, power quality studies, distribution system studies, DER screening methodologies, and planning/system operational studies. The role requires strong expertise in CYME, distribution system analysis, and DER integration studies.
Key Responsibilities
Perform CYME-based Hosting Capacity Analysis (HCA) and support automation of study workflows.
Conduct distribution power flow analysis and validate circuit models against field conditions.
Perform power quality analysis using AMI, SCADA, monitoring devices, and field measurements.
Develop and document workflows for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 DER screen processes in CYME and Power BI.
Develop methodologies and criteria for advanced Level 3 screening studies, including determination of when EMTP/transient analysis is required.
Support development of Power BI dashboard strategies to assist planners with DER screening and hosting capacity processes.
Collaborate with stakeholders to implement DER integration and operational efforts using CYME, DERMS, and other utility software platforms.
Prepare technical reports, study documentation, and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering- Power System Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of utility distribution engineering, distribution planning, or DER integration experience.
Advanced proficiency in CYME, including advanced analysis modules.
Experience with hosting capacity analysis and distribution system modeling.
Experience performing power system studies on distribution systems with DER integration.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with EMTP or other transient analysis tools.
Experience developing DER screening methodologies.
Experience with DERMS implementation and grid modernization initiatives.
Experience with Python and SQL.
Experience with Power BI dashboard development and analytics.

Work Arrangement
This position requires on-site attendance for meetings as requested, based on business needs. Meetings will be held at Client locations.
