Summary:

  • Location: Williamsport, MD

  • Work Mode: Hybrid (4 days available to work from home per month)

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates and directs a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
  • Develops familiarity with state regulatory requirements for distribution inspection and maintenance.
  • Assists with generating annual PM inspection program package, including identifying work, preparing SAP forms, and monitoring progress.
  • Maintains PM inspection information and updates orders as necessary.
  • Performs regulatory required safety and security inspections according to established I&M practices.
  • Reviews and interprets reliability data from PowerOn, SAP, and the Enterprise Data Warehouse to prioritize work.
  • Responds to customer and commission inquiries concerning reliability and voltage conditions, including EMF and RFI inquiries or short circuit analysis.
  • Manages Distribution Customer Distributed Generation Application Mailbox under direct supervision.
  • Assists customers with proper completion of their applications.
  • Fields program capacitors and monitors inoperable equipment log for capacitor programming needs.
  • Initiates and tracks Unsatisfactory Performance Reports (UPR).
  • Maintains a tracking database of all interconnection applications and installations.
  • Monitors interconnections' progress and prompts appropriate parties to meet required timeframes.
  • Corresponds with installers to address issues and answer questions about application or installation requirements.
  • Performs technical reviews for all Level 1 interconnection applications, including verifying equipment size and installation compliance with COMAR requirements.
  • Provides approval to customers once technical review is satisfactory or works with customers on necessary modifications.
  • Directs Level 2 or higher interconnection applications to the appropriate engineer/designer for technical review.
  • Fields technical questions from customers regarding interconnection requirements.
  • Assists with preparing budget items for Distribution System Reliability work.
  • Serves as liaison to assist Designer and Customer in completing applications and agreements.
  • Coordinates with Meter Services to initiate Meter Exchange when interconnection is ready.
  • Ensures completion of interconnection agreement and provides certificate of completion post-inspection.
  • Initiates regular reports to the Mapping Group for GIS mapping of interconnections.
  • Monitors the generation interconnection mailbox and responds to customer inquiries.
  • Reviews WV and MD interconnection applications for completeness and accuracy, working with customers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Provides initial technical evaluation and collaborates with company personnel to process applications.
  • Communicates professionally with customers, property owners, architects, and engineers under direct supervision.
  • Provides reliable day-to-day support to supervision and other employees on assigned tasks.
  • Assists during emergencies and storm-related activities and travels to various locations as required.
  • Manages time and priorities, updating management on work progress.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline with minimum 1 year of related work experience, OR Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline with minimum 2 years of related work experience, OR High School Diploma (or GED) with minimum 4 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Current knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Understanding of the Company’s Accident Prevention Handbook and practical application in the workplace.
  • Ability to interpret work requests, engineering drawings, schematics, equipment instruction manuals, and procedures to develop accurate work plans.
  • Working knowledge of equipment, residential, commercial, and utility electrical distribution and control systems.
  • Familiarity with construction methods, maintenance practices, service practices, standards, and procedures.
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to develop, collect, organize, and analyze information for reports on backlog and productivity.
  • Professionalism to work with engineer and management personnel and interface with customers, contractors, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task with competing priorities.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service internally and externally.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a personal vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required and possess a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with PC software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, SAP, GIS, CREWS, PowerOn, CAD/AutoCAD, and Energy Delivery Outage Application.
  • Experience with database query tools (Hyperion/BRIO, Business Explorer Analyzer (BEX), Cognos); experience using Visual Basic is a plus.
