Location Description:

Our Jordan, MN distribution center is a new, state of the art facility that stores frozen and refrigerated finished food products, with capacity for up to 31,000 pallets of finished goods and materials inside of a 235,000 square foot facility. Located in the Minnesota River Valley and 35 miles from Minneapolis, Jordan is a community focused on growth while keeping the charm and community centered atmosphere. Jordan’s historic downtown includes a variety of small businesses to shop locally, and the city is surrounded by forested bluffs and rivers.

Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

The Distribution Manager is responsible for leading operations at the MFI finished goods warehouse in Jordan, Minnesota. This role ensures customer service levels are achieved, operating costs are optimized, and daily warehouse activities are executed safely and efficiently.

 

Warehouse Operations and Scope

The Jordan distribution center stores frozen and refrigerated finished food products, with capacity for up to 31,000 pallets of finished goods and materials inside of a 235,000 square foot facility.

 

Leadership and Team Accountability

The Distribution Manager leads a team of more than 40 employees, including multiple supervisors and warehouse operators. The role also oversees the maintenance team responsible for keeping the facility and building systems operating properly.

 

Compliance, Quality, and Continuous Improvement

This position is accountable for maintaining operational discipline, food safety, quality assurance, and sound business practices. In addition to providing direct leadership to onsite staff, the Distribution Manager identifies productivity opportunities and works cross-functionally with other areas of the MFI supply chain.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Safety and Compliance
  • Comply with all safety work rules and reinforce safety as a core value in daily operations.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support the highest level of employee safety and maintain a safe, healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety and health expectations into all jobs and tasks.
  • Adhere to quality work practices and GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is protected.

 

• Warehouse Operations and Inventory Control
  • Manage warehousing and inventory control functions by setting performance objectives, prioritizing projects, and overseeing daily operations.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient receiving, storage, and shipment of products.
  • Manage yard activities performed by the 3PL provider to optimize operations and support timely trailer movement in and out of dock doors.
  • Plan facility layout, equipment needs, and staffing requirements to support future operations.
  • Manage blast freezing process which includes planning and executing blast times.

 

• Financial and Performance Management
  • Develop operations and capital budgets and manage performance against those budgets while maintaining targeted service levels.
  • Maintain and report facility key performance indicators to ensure targets are met for service, cost, safety, and other operational measures.

 

• People Leadership and Process Improvement
  • Oversee hiring, scheduling, discipline, development, and growth of staff.
  • Develop, review, update, and monitor compliance with standard operating policies and processes.
  • Lead or participate in strategic and tactical projects across Michael Foods Supply Chain.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience
  • Minimum of five years of warehouse management experience, including responsibility for expenses, staffing, and inventory.
  • Experience in perishable food distribution is preferred but not required.
• Certifications
  • ASCM CLTD, CPIM, or APICS certification is preferred but not required.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Direct management of employees.
• Managing layers and previous experience managing hourly employees directly or indirectly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in addition to sound interpersonal skills.
• Experience with ERP and Warehouse Management Systems. SAP experience preferred.
• Ability to solve complex problems and mitigate day to day issues.
• Proficient PC skills, in such programs as Microsoft Excel, Visio, and Word.
• Multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Somali, etc.) preferred.
• Blast freezing experience preferred.

 : The pay range for this position is $102,093 - $159,265 per year.
