POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Distribution Strategy Lead your roles and responsibilities will include:
The client is seeking a Distribution Strategy Lead to oversee third-party logistics (3PL) operations, warehouse performance, inventory accuracy, and distribution network efficiency.
The role focuses on translating supply chain strategy into day-to-day execution, resolving operational issues, controlling costs, and improving service delivery across third-party-operated distribution facilities.
Key responsibilities- 3PL and warehouse operations: Manage end-to-end inbound logistics, warehouse activities, order fulfillment, and outbound shipments.
- SAP and WMS integration: Monitor electronic data interchange (EDI) transactions between warehouse management systems and SAP.
- Inventory management: Minimize slow-moving and obsolete (SLOB) inventory, maintain inventory accuracy, and reduce stock variances.
- Operational governance: Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality benchmarks, onboarding metrics, and service-level expectations.
- Financial controls: Partner with Finance and Audit teams on physical inventory counts, stock valuation, and variance reduction.
- Continuous improvement: Improve warehouse workflows, throughput, cost efficiency, and right-first-time performance.
- Strategic projects: Lead WMS/SAP implementations, facility upgrades, and process reengineering initiatives.
- Vendor management: Manage 3PL relationships, resolve escalations, enforce SLAs, and negotiate operational improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Distribution Strategy Lead who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Distribution Strategy Lead would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in supply chain, warehousing, or transportation logistics.
- Proven experience managing high-volume third-party logistics providers.
- Demonstrated success improving operational performance and resolving logistics bottlenecks.
- Project management experience coordinating complex operations under tight timelines.
- Preferred qualifications
- Strong knowledge of SAP and enterprise warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Experience with Google Suite, Looker, Google Data Studio, or similar data visualization tools.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to turn complex operational data into actionable insights.
- Experience with contract management, SLA enforcement, and vendor negotiations.
