Distribution Technician

Pay: Starting at $50,000 per year

Job Overview

The Distribution Technician is responsible for managing inventory, coordinating purchasing, and ensuring Division 31 teams have the materials needed to support daily operations. This position oversees the ordering, receiving, organization, tracking, and distribution of irrigation materials, green goods, specialty items, and other operational supplies. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to develop efficient inventory processes that support accuracy and productivity.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

-Order irrigation materials and maintain appropriate inventory levels based on operational needs and established stock requirements.

-Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify materials that need to be ordered or replenished.

-Receive incoming deliveries, verify materials and quantities, and resolve discrepancies as needed.

-Inspect received materials for accuracy, quality, and damage before adding items to inventory.

-Accurately enter receipts, billing information, inventory adjustments, and other transactions into the inventory management system.

-Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with routine inventory counts and reconciliations.

-Build and maintain irrigation kits according to established inventory levels and operational needs.

-Coordinate the ordering and availability of green goods, specialty items, and other distribution materials.

-Organize inventory, storage areas, and distribution materials to improve accessibility, accuracy, and workflow.

-Develop and implement efficient inventory processes to reduce errors, improve organization, and support operational efficiency.

-Pull, organize, stage, and verify plant packages to ensure orders are complete and accurate before delivery or pickup.

-Coordinate with Division 31 managers and team members to understand upcoming material needs and production schedules.

-Communicate inventory shortages, order delays, delivery discrepancies, and other concerns to the appropriate team members.

-Build and maintain positive working relationships with vendors and suppliers.

-Safely assist with loading, unloading, and moving inventory and materials as needed.

-Follow all company safety procedures and maintain clean, organized, and safe inventory and distribution areas.

-Perform additional duties as assigned to support distribution operations and company goals.

 

Qualifications

-Previous experience in inventory management, purchasing, distribution, warehouse operations, landscaping, nursery operations, or a related field is preferred.

-Experience using inventory management, purchasing, or accounting software is preferred.

-Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.

-Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate inventory and purchasing records.

-Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing operational needs.

-Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

-Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with managers, field teams, vendors, and other departments.

-Basic knowledge of irrigation materials, plant materials, or landscape industry products is preferred.

-Valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record are preferred.

 

Physical Requirements

-Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

-Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout inventory, warehouse, and nursery areas.

-Ability to safely load, unload, organize, and move plants, irrigation materials, and other inventory.

-Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions as needed.
