The District Content Chair (DC) works closely with District leadership to ensure effective instruction within the Content. The DC drives a culture of instructional excellence through teacher support and training. The DC teaches, supports content instructional initiatives, designs and presents professional development, supports curricular initiatives, and works closely with the Curriculum Specialist to maximize teacher performance which ultimately drives high-level student achievement. RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to identify curriculum needs, gather feedback, and incorporate diverse perspectives into curriculum design. Participate in one yearly coaching meeting (full day), new hire orientation, and in afterschool planning meetings (2 hours, monthly) with the content curriculum specialist. Serve as a member of the Core Curriculum Team for the Content Area. This includes collaborating on and leadership for the District Arts Events. District Art Show: Coordinate logistics and execution of the district art show. Curriculum Development and Implementation: Collaborate to identify annual objectives, planning and implementation of various District-wide Curricular initiatives (K-12) for the Content area. Research and collaborate in the identification of curricular resource materials, curriculum based request for proposals (RFP), inventory tracking and maintenance, distribution of instructional materials, and plan for new hires. Create and manage a collection of great lesson plans and resources for teachers; especially those designed to support both struggling students and high academic achievers. Integrate digital literacy and tech skills into teaching strategies. Resources should be posted or linked in Content Schoology Groups. Instructional Design and Standards: Ensure that curriculum materials and instructional strategies align with relevant educational standards, such as state or national standards, and educational trends. Provide resources (i.e. Schoology, Content Rolling Agenda, etc.) to district and school based support teams, such as instructional coaches, department chairs, team leads, etc. to support effective teaching and learning. Support department meetings/professional learning communities (PLCs) with collaborative curriculum planning and implementation through communication in the rolling agenda (or teacher-leadership within your home building).Professional Development: Collaboratively design a comprehensive Professional Development plan with the Curriculum Specialist. In alignment with the plan, provide training and professional development opportunities for educators to support the effective implementation of curriculum materials and instructional strategies. Serve as a resource for teachers seeking support with curriculum planning, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Data Analysis, Assessment, and Evaluation: Develop assessment tools and evaluation criteria to measure student learning outcomes and assess the effectiveness of curriculum materials to identify areas for improvement, inform decision-making processes, and support districtwide events.Presentation of the evaluation should occur at minimum on an annual basis. Communication: Collaborate on Communications (including Content Area rolling agenda and Schoology Group Resources, and Weekly Memo updates) to share with stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, parents, and community members, to provide information about district events, curriculum initiatives, gather feedback, and address concerns. Provide school board, CSD cabinet, and CSD teams and committees presentations and updates as necessary. Policy Compliance and Networking: Ensure compliance with relevant education policies, regulations, and guidelines in curriculum development and implementation. Build professional networks and collaborate with other curriculum specialists, educators, and organizations to share best practices and resources.
