    Position Title: District Director – Topeka
    Job Classification: Exempt, Full-Time
    Work Schedule:
    Reporting Relationship: President & CEO

    Primary Accountabilities:
    The District Director serves as the lead representative and market leader for Junior Achievement (JA) in the Topeka area. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, building strategic community partnerships, expanding program impact, engaging the local Board of Directors, and overseeing fundraising and community engagement events. The District Director works independently while collaborating with statewide staff, community leaders, educators, volunteers, donors, and corporate partners to advance JA’s mission.

    Essential Job Functions
    Community Leadership & Growth
    • Develop and execute district strategies aligned with organizational goals.
    • Drive growth in fundraising, partnerships, volunteer engagement, student impact, and community visibility.
    • Expand JA programs and strengthen community presence using data and stakeholder feedback.
    Relationship Development
    • Build and maintain relationships with businesses, schools, donors, foundations, and community leaders.
    • Serve as a visible JA ambassador across the Topeka region.
    • Develop partnerships that generate funding, volunteers, sponsorships, and long-term engagement.
    Fundraising & Revenue Generation
    • Lead fundraising efforts and achieve revenue goals.
    • Secure sponsorships, donations, grants, and foundation support.
    • Manage donor and partner pipelines, stewardship, and funding opportunities in collaboration with leadership and the Board.
    Event Leadership
    • Plan and execute major fundraising and student engagement events (Business Hall of Fame, Golf Tournament, Trivia Night, Stock Market Challenge).
    • Oversee event budgets, sponsorships, logistics, communications, and committees.
    • Measure event success and community impact.
    Program & School Partnerships
    • Strengthen relationships with schools, educators, and community partners.
    • Support volunteer recruitment and program delivery.
    • Expand financial literacy, entrepreneurship, career readiness, and workforce development programming.


    Board Engagement
    • Support board operations, recruitment, onboarding, and leadership development.
    • Prepare reports and meeting materials.
    • Encourage board involvement in fundraising, advocacy, and community outreach.
    Financial & Operational Management
    • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
    • Track fundraising results and progress toward goals.
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with policies and reporting requirements.
    • Collaborate across the organization to support statewide success.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Regularly communicate verbally and in writing with staff, donors, volunteers, educators, community leaders, and board members.
    • Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands for computer and office work.
    • Operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and presentation technology.
    • Travel frequently throughout the Topeka service area for meetings, school visits, community events, and fundraising activities.
    • Ability to transport and set up event materials and displays. May occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds.
    • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods during meetings, presentations, and events.
    • Requires visual ability to read documents, analyze data, and use computer screens.
    • Requires hearing and communication abilities sufficient to interact effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone.

    Work Environment:
    • Hybrid work environment consisting of office, home office, school, community, and event settings.
    • Regular local travel required; occasional evening and weekend work required.
    • Work may include attendance at indoor and outdoor events under varying environmental conditions.
    • Position requires flexibility to manage multiple locations, schedules, and community engagements.
