Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
- Provide primary leadership in teaching and learning for all division members.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and expertise in appropriate, effective instructional techniques, classroom management, professional interactions, and professional responsibilities.
- Promote and assist in the professional development of all division members.
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of curriculum.
- Serve as a curriculum committee member to ensure alignment with course goals, division goals, district goals, and school board goals.
- Oversee and support instructional assessment by creating and analyzing common assessments.
Leadership:
- Evaluate staff as assigned using the district evaluation methods and protocols.
- Oversee and support instructional staff through the MCHS Student Growth model procedures and processes.
- Evaluate assistant division chairs as assigned.
- Work with the Principal to screen, interview, and hire staff.
- Assist with the orientation and process of mentorship of new department members.
- Work with the Principal to create annual division staffing plans.
- Work with assistant divisionals to oversee the annual department budget
Communication:
- Provide leadership in the articulation with other departments and feeder schools.
- Assist in the appropriate placement of incoming and current students.
- Provide for divisional representation at orientation events as requested.
- Serve as the initial facilitator for resolving divisional issues.
- Work with assistant division chairs to organize and conduct all PLC meetings during the school year.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed).
- Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a Principal endorsement, or an equivalent administrative endorsement (formerly Type 75 certification), is required.
- Must be endorsed in the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) to evaluate certified staff.
- License endorsement(s) held in the division content area.
- Ability to model high levels of character, integrity, best practices in teaching, appropriate professional demeanor, interactions, and conduct.
- 5 years of successful teaching experience
- Strong background in department or building leadership is preferred.
- Communicate effectively with students, community, staff, and administration.
- The ability to come to work regularly and be punctual.
Salary/Benefits
- Base Salary: Is commensurate with education and experience
- Stipend: Is dependent upon the size of the department
- Benefits: Eligible for medical benefits and paid leave (sick and personal)
Additional Notes
Terms of Employment
- Responsible To: Principals
- Location: District - Traveling is required
- Assignment: May teach up to two classes in the division
- Calendar: 180 Day / School-Year Employee + 10 summer days
