The Black Horse Pike Regional School District has an opening for a District Instructional Coach for the 2026-2027 school year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. New Jersey certification in English or Math is preferred.

  2. Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience.

  3. Experience in researched-based instructional practices.

  4. Previous coaching or leadership experience.

  5. Certified/or willing to obtain Google Certification.

  6. Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.

  7. Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning, reflection and growth mindset.

REPORTS TO: District Supervisors of Math and English Language Arts

JOB GOAL: Instructional Coaches, having both content and instructional expertise, will

work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and

teacher practice. The instructional coach will assist District Supervisors to

facilitate the best instructional practices of teaching and learning in the classroom

and will assist the supervisors to use assessment data to improve teaching and

learning and meet district and curricular goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Each instructional coach will provide support to teachers and supervisors districtwide.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides standards-based training to teachers in the core curriculum standards in which the

coach is certified.

  • Assists teachers with implementing instructional strategies and best practices in planning,

instructional delivery, assessment, and classroom environment (new, non-tenured, and tenured

teachers) in all content areas.

  • Plan, facilitate and organize professional development both school wide and by department

(including PLCs and PD sessions organized by supervisors). Provides training after school in

the form of short workshops.

  • Visits individual classrooms and models lessons. Consistently supports teacher practice

through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis and examination of student work.

  • Assists teachers with planning instruction that aligns with NJSLS, as well as district and

department goals.

  • Creates learning resources to support teachers in their implementation of curriculum.

  • Keeps a detailed log of classroom coaching visits.

  • Assists Title 1 Coordinators with Back to School Night presentations.

  • Assists supervisors with organizing any testing preparation materials and the implementation

of standardized tests.

  • Assists supervisors with vertical articulation activities.

  • Assists supervisors with organizing any other curriculum tasks.

  • Assist teachers and/or supervisors with developing assessments, analyzing data, and evaluating

curriculum.

  • Supports district efforts to achieve educational equity when working with teachers and/or

supervisors.

  • Coordinates peer-to-peer observations as needed, including the arrangement of class

coverages.

  • May serve as a consultant to building-based PD or ScIP groups, but will not serve as a full-

time committee member for any one building-based team. If hours for consulting with building-

based ScIP/PD teams exceeds normal work hours, compensation will be awarded for a set

number of hours, determined ahead of time per availability of funds in the Title II grant for

professional development.

  • Collaborates with supervisors to support the implementation of corrective action plans.

  • Collaborates with teachers to support their use of technology in delivery of curricula through

a variety of instructional methods, integrating resources in support of student learning and

assisting teachers in meeting state and national standards for subject-area and technology

learning objectives.

  • Performs onboarding responsibilities for newly hired teachers (in the summer and throughout

the year), including support for navigating instructional technology (Go Guardian, Smartboard

tools, content-area software platforms); for managing Google Drive and Google Suite tools;

and for using district programs (Genesis gradebook and lesson planner).

  • Note: If summer hours are required, additional compensation will be provided.

  • Provides guidance and informal mentorship to new teachers across the district throughout the

year.

  • Actively promotes the instructional coach role by communicating available supports and

services to teachers, supervisors, and district leaders to build collaborative partnerships and

increase engagement

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific responsibilities will be divided as follows according to content-area expertise:

  • The Math Certified Instructional Coach will be responsible for

  • working with teachers to align pacing of content and assessments among teachers in the Math department, and

  • preparing and updating benchmark assessments for Math.

  • The English Certified Instructional Coach will be responsible for

  • working with teachers across content areas to implement strategies and design activities that develop and assess literacy skills for both reading and writing, and

  • assist teachers and supervisors across content areas with assessing literacy skills, both formatively and summatively.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: The work year shall be the same as the teacher work year.

EVALUATIONS: Instructional Coaches shall be evaluated annually as Educational Specialists in accordance with Board policy regarding evaluation of professional staff under the teacher contract. District Supervisors will conduct formal and informal observations to document evaluation of performance as part of that process. Summative evaluation reports will be produced by the Supervisors of Math and English Language Arts.

Salary based on education and experience on the BHPEA Salary Guide - $60,500 - $102,350.
