• Knowledge or familiarity of productivity tools and application support including telecommunication, print/graphic utilities, multi- and hyper medias, presentation tools, assessment tools; (i.e. Google Apps, Vector Solutions), touch display panels, office/productivity software suites, Google Apps/Classroom, etc.
• Experience integrating computer/technology-based material (such as video, computers, hypermedia, multimedia, telecommunications, and distance learning) into the curriculum through the application of problem solving, critical thinking, information management and communication skills.
• Experience with hardware configurations, operating systems, compatibility issues, peripheral technology, and end user support for multiple different devices (including, but not limited to, PC, Android/ChromeOS, iPad, Surface, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience identifying, evaluating and applying emerging technologies to enhance the teaching/learning process and improve digital curriculum
• Experience being a self-starter, working independently and adjusting to the needs of many constituents and stakeholders.
• Expertise in digital literacy, online research methods and ethical technology use.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the organization including Faculty, Administration and Students.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrable ability to adapt and innovate with emerging technology in order to enhance student learning and faculty teaching practices

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology

JOB GOAL: To collaborate with educators and administrators to integrate innovative, effective technology solutions into the curriculum, providing training and support to faculty in the use of digital tools that enhance student engagement, foster critical thinking, and improve learning outcomes. In addition, build and instruct students on a curriculum centered around digital literacy and research resources, all while working towards building a sustainable, technology-rich environment that promotes personalized learning and supports the evolving needs of all stakeholders.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver direct support and training to school staff in integrating technology into curriculum across all content areas. Help faculty incorporate technology into lessons to improve student engagement, skill development, and proficiency.
• Evaluate how various technologies (such as simulation software, specialized industry tools, multimedia resources, etc) can be effectively used to support academic and technical education. Guide faculty in selecting and using digital tools that align with their curriculum and training objectives.
• Assess software and online tools that support vocational training and academic standards. Stay informed on emerging technology trends and evaluate their potential for integration into learning and classroom instruction, especially in regards to AI and other developing technologies.
• Design and deliver professional development workshops for staff and faculty focused on technology integration within their content area. This includes training on specialized software, online learning platforms, digital research tools, multimedia presentations, and tools for creating virtual simulations and other technology available within the classroom.
• Assist faculty in integrating technology into assessments, ensuring that digital tools support accurate, industry-relevant evaluations of student performance. Collaborate with staff to incorporate and support technology-based assessments.
• Collaborate with the Principal, Director of Technology and Other Stakeholders to assess the school's technology needs. Provide guidance on selecting and previewing new resources (software, hardware, and tools) that align with both educational goals and provide input as to what software platforms should be budgeted for.
• Assist in the development and implementation of the District's Technology Plan, ensuring that it aligns with the needs of educator and broader district goals. Advocate for the integration of technology that supports both academic and technical skill development and that meets system-wide needs and priorities.
• Model and coach staff on cyber-safety practices and responsible technology use within their classrooms. Lead initiatives to ensure students are aware of and practice ethical technology use, online safety, and digital citizenship in both academic and vocational contexts.
• Attend regular meetings when needed to discuss Cyber Safety or other technology topics.
• Model ethics, safety, and proficiency in the basic use of hardware and applications for staff and students.
• Lead lessons and discussions on the importance of digital citizenship, emphasizing responsible and ethical behavior online, the impact of social media, and the safe use of technology in both academic and professional contexts.
• Educate students on the long-term effects of their digital footprint, teaching them how online actions, privacy choices, and social media activity can affect their personal and professional reputation. Encourage students to be proactive about managing their online presence, maintaining professionalism in digital environments, and understanding privacy settings across various platforms.
• Troubleshoot minor hardware problems and communicate larger problems to the IT staff. Ensure that the district's technology systems and hardware are running smoothly and effectively while working collaboratively with IT.
• Participate in technology-related activities that foster personal growth and maintain a current knowledge base.
• Maintain and advance knowledge of a variety of software and hardware tools for connectivity, communication, creativity, research, problem solving and decision making to enhance learning and instruction.
• Provide relevant and targeted technology integration support to teachers and students in correlation with DRVTHS curriculum and the current state standards. It is an expectation that the Instructional Technology Specialist collaborate closely with faculty and staff to effectively achieve a seamless integration of technology tools and resources into current units of study.
• Daily skill requirements include basic hardware setup, basic maintenance procedures, and proficiency with word processing, databases (SIS), spreadsheet, desktop publishing, online learning, student hardware, multi-media and display devices.
• Daily support capabilities include troubleshooting student devices, communication and multi-media display devices.
• Manage and maintain the school's library and media services, ensuring access to a wide range of digital and physical resources that support both academic and vocational curriculum. Curate and organize a collection of books, e-books, instructional materials, trade-specific references, and multimedia content that align with the needs of students and faculty.
• Collaborate with instructors to provide resources that enhance project-based learning, research, and skill development. Support faculty and students in utilizing library resources effectively for coursework, independent study, and industry-specific research. Facilitate the use of digital media tools and assist with the creation of multimedia projects, ensuring that resources are current, relevant, and accessible to all members of the school community.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to provide support for and have strengths in the following areas:

• This role involves moving IT equipment (computers, printers, AV equipment etc.) weighing up to 50 lbs.
• This role may require the use of a car to travel between school buildings.
• This role involves setup of Audio-Visual equipment and may require getting up on a ladder.
• This role involves plugging in the electric and peripheral connections of IT equipment that is oftentimes difficult to reach under or behind furniture and may involve bending, stooping, crouching, and/or kneeling.
• Is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear.
