T he Home & Garden business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. Job Summary
As a District Sales Representative , you will be responsible for servicing Spectrum Brands Home & Garden products at national big boxes accounts that include The Home Depot , Lowe' s , and Walmart. You will report directly to the Area Sales Manager within an already established territory. Your other responsibilities will include the integrity of already established account initiatives that drive Spectrum Brands sales, alignment and teamwork within a region with other like-minded team members, and communication of key information discovered at store level that drives sales opportunities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Merchandising
  • Meeting or exceeding sales goals by maintaining store presentation standards through resets, fixture installation, store sets, retrofits, inventory reconciliation, shelf maintenance, display maintenance and POP installation.
  • Planning store visit for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Executing Planograms/Maps first; then looks for opportunities (that drive margin growth).
  • Following direction and executing best practices/processes with process discipline.
  • Building relationships with store management.
  • Maximizing customer interest and sales levels by displaying products appropriately.
  • Maintaining store shelves and inventory.
  • Creating spaces to best position Spectrum Brands products.
  • Placing replenishment orders with store management to increase volume and contribute to bottom-line sales.
  • Identifying opportunities for incremental display space to drive volume goals.
  • Assisting retail consumers with the selection and purchase of SPB products.
  • Conducting pricing surveys and tracking orders to determine if any additional selling opportunities are present.
  • Ensuring compliance with performance expectations and all company values and policies including safety, attendance, store presence, and travel.
  • Always understanding and demonstrating safe work practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.
Relationships
  • Building constructive customer relationships and teaming with channel partners to build pipelines and close deals.
  • Providing product knowledge training to store personnel to allow them to better drive sales to the end user.
  • Assisting retail consumers with the selection and purchase of Spectrum Brands products.
  • Solving problems and providing continuous improvement support; addressing and resolving critical issues immediately.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key store-level decision makers (IMAs, Department Managers, Store Managers) to enhance, grow and drive sales.
  • Ensuring the highest level of expectation for customers and consumers. High interaction with stores and selling products.

Education and Experience Profile
  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or additional training beyond high school preferred.
  • One (1) to two (2) years previous sales and/or retail experience.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills
  • Ability to work flexible work hours, weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Ability to travel extensively and safely within territory with overnight travel as needed.
  • Access to reliable transportation to meet customer needs and company expectations. Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders, safely lift up to 60 lbs. frequently and safely perform the physical requirements and essential duties and responsibility in a retail sales setting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (speaking, writing, active listening) and demonstrate professional behavior at all times.
  • Ability to manage time and competing priorities through effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ability to effectively lead and delegate in a professional manner and demonstrate integrity and respect for others at all times.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and sense of urgency to exceed customer expectations.
  • Demonstrate competitive drive and will to succeed for business growth.
  • Strong PC skills (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations).

Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to climb ladders and the employee must frequently (or occasionally) lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level and working conditions may be similar to those for a warehouse facility.
  • Exposure to weather conditions while traveling between assigned stores.
  • Employees will be compensated for wear and tear on car and mileage reimbursement
