Division 8 (DFH) Detailer - Comsense Experience Required

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Division 8 Detailer with strong Comsense experience to support commercial door, frame, and hardware projects from award through material release. This role is responsible for producing accurate submittals, hardware schedules, material orders, and project documentation while coordinating closely with project managers, estimators, vendors, and field teams.

The ideal candidate understands commercial construction documents, DFH applications, hardware coordination, and building code requirements, and can manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, addenda, and opening schedules
• Prepare detailed door, frame, and hardware submittals using Comsense
• Develop and manage hardware sets, door/frame schedules, and material releases
• Generate RFIs and clarification requests as needed
• Coordinate with project managers, estimators, architects, contractors, and manufacturers
• Verify code compliance including fire ratings, accessibility, and life safety requirements
• Produce machining sheets, templates, and procurement documentation
• Process revisions, change orders, and updated submittals throughout project lifecycle
• Identify constructability issues and recommend practical solutions
• Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure deadlines are met
• Assist with value engineering opportunities when applicable

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of Division 8 detailing experience preferred
• Strong working knowledge of commercial doors, frames, and architectural hardware
• Hands-on experience with Comsense strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
• Familiarity with hollow metal, wood doors, specialty hardware, and electrified openings
• Understanding of applicable building codes and ADA requirements
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Comsense Opening Suite / Enterprise
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or related software
• DHI certifications (AHC, CDC, etc.) are a plus
• Experience with healthcare, education, or large commercial projects preferred
• Knowledge of manufacturer ordering systems and templates
