The Division Controller will oversee month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger activities, cash management, budgeting and analysis, internal controls, and accounting team development.

Construction industry accounting experience is required. The ideal candidate understands the financial complexities of a project-driven construction business and can translate financial results into meaningful insights that help operations improve profitability and business performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the division's month-end close process and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
    • Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting financial schedules
    • Partner closely with operations and executive leadership to analyze financial performance, project results, profitability, and business trends
    • Analyze actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identify variances, and provide actionable financial insights
    • Support construction-related financial reporting and ensure project activity is accurately reflected in division results
    • Manage cash flow, cash forecasting, and other treasury-related activities for the division
    • Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, reporting accuracy, and overall financial discipline
    • Support annual audits, tax preparation, and implementation of new accounting standards and policies
    • Develop and improve management reporting to provide greater visibility into operational and financial performance
    • Lead, mentor, and develop Senior and Staff Accountants while creating accountability across the accounting function

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
    • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
    • Construction industry accounting experience required
    • Previous accounting leadership, supervisory, or management experience
    • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
    • Experience analyzing P&L performance, budgets, forecasts, and operating results
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large and complex data sets
    • Advanced proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office
    • Ability to partner effectively with operations leaders and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, accountable, and comfortable operating in a deadline-driven environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    • CPA or MBA preferred
    • Experience as a Controller, Division Controller, Assistant Controller, Construction Controller, or Accounting Manager within the construction industry
    • Experience with project-based accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, or percentage-of-completion accounting
    • Experience improving accounting processes, controls, and financial reporting
    • Background supporting multiple projects, divisions, branches, or operating entities
    • Experience developing and mentoring accounting professionals

    Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a construction accounting leader who is equally comfortable digging into the details and partnering with senior leadership.

This person should understand how accounting connects to project performance and operations—not simply how to close the books. They will be proactive, analytical, highly accountable, and willing to investigate issues until they understand the underlying business drivers.

The successful candidate will also enjoy developing people and improving processes while bringing greater financial visibility and discipline to a growing construction organization.

    Why This Opportunity

    • High-impact financial leadership role with direct exposure to operational and executive leadership
    • Opportunity to influence both financial performance and business decision-making
