SR. Data Analyst (SQL/Teradata/Medicaid)
Location: Richmond, VA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, initially 1 day onsite per week
Employment Type: Contract for 8 months with possible extensions

Pay Rate: $55.00 to $59.00 per hour on W2
Important: Candidates must reside in the United States throughout the assignment and be able to pick up equipment onsite. Parking is not provided for contractors. The regular onsite schedule will be confirmed after starting.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Senior Medicaid Data Analyst with strong SQL, Teradata, data validation, and business systems analysis experience to support healthcare data initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in
Medicaid or Medicare systems, requirements gathering, data testing, reporting, and system integrations, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, developers, QA teams, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements, including requirements traceability.
Develop complex SQL queries using Teradata for data extraction, analysis, validation, and reporting.
Review technical designs, identify gaps, and develop specifications aligned with business needs.
Create and execute test plans, test cases, and data validation scripts across databases, ETL processes, and interfaces.
Investigate data discrepancies, troubleshoot system issues, and coordinate resolutions with technical teams and vendors.
Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar tools.
Support system implementations, user testing, production issues, and post-go-live activities.
Maintain data definitions, workflows, technical documentation, and regulatory reporting standards.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience with Medicaid, Medicare, or comparable healthcare systems.
5+ years of SQL experience, including complex queries and relational databases.
5+ years of experience gathering business requirements, developing technical specifications, and maintaining requirements traceability.
Experience facilitating stakeholder meetings, requirements workshops, and JAD sessions.
Strong experience with Teradata SQL, including performance tuning, BTEQ, or Teradata SQL Assistant.
Experience developing test scenarios, test data, and performing data quality validation.
Experience with BI reporting tools and working closely with developers, QA teams, and vendors.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, claims, encounters, or managed care data.
Knowledge of CMS regulations, Medicaid policy, and state or federal reporting requirements.
Experience with SAS, statistical analysis, or predictive modeling.
Proficiency with Tableau, Power BI, Excel, and other reporting tools.

advanced SQL/Teradata expertise, Medicaid domain knowledge, business requirements analysis, and data testing experience. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, resolving complex data issues, and translating business needs into effective technical solutions.
