Position Summary Information

Minimum Qualifications

• Earned nursing-related doctoral degree from an accredited institution by the time of appointment*
• One graduate degree must be in nursing (master's or doctorate)
• Minimum 2 years of experience as nurse practitioner
• National certication as a nurse practitioner

License/Certification Required

Possess (or be eligible for) current registered nurse license and hold or be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of North Carolina; current national certication as a Nurse Practitioner (NP); meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing's requirements for nurse educators within 3 years of employment.

Description of the Department or Unit

The Department of Nursing within the Beaver College of Health Sciences was founded in 2007 and offers a pre-licensure BSN, the online RN to BSN, and MSN programs with a concentration in nursing education, and a DNP Family Nurse Practitioner program established in 2026. The BSN, RN to BSN, and MSN programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE); the DNP program holds new applicant status with CCNE. The department features state-of-the-art laboratories and supports faculty with varying research and practice backgrounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• This posting is for one or more Open Rank (Tenure-Track or Clinical Track) Faculty member position(s) - rank to be determined by the Department of Nursing in conjunction with the Dean of the College prior to an offer being made to any candidate.
• The purpose of the position is to provide instruction in the DNP FNP program. This may include teaching in the classroom, clinical settings, simulation, or online. The faculty is responsible for collaboration with colleagues and students, for maintaining the quality of the academic curriculum through development, implementation, and evaluation; contributing to accreditation work and program evaluation; student recruitment, admissions and progression; and student advisement. As a member of the faculty, the individual will be expected to contribute to teaching, practice, scholarship, and service, including participation in ocial activities of the department, college, and university, among others.

ABD with reduction in rank and salary: ABD will be considered for this position. Evidence of successful defense of the dissertation must be received by July 31 for a fall hire or November 30 for a spring hire. If confirmation of defense is not provided by the deadline, the candidate will receive a new one-year fixed-term contract and be hired at the rank of Instructor. The candidate's salary will also be reduced to a lower rate commensurate with other full-time instructors in the same department. However, if degree verification is provided before the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the candidate will be returned to the rank of assistant professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1 of the following academic year.

No ABD consideration: Only candidates with an earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution will be considered for the position. Since ABD will not meet the minimum requirements, ABD will not be considered.
