Job Description

O'Hagan Meyer is seeking a full-time Docket Clerk to join its San Francisco, CA office. We are looking for candidates that have an eye for detail, resourceful, and care about the little things. Candidates will have at least one year of docketing experience, and background in docketing or litigation support and administration.  

Must possess professional communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) and can follow procedures and ask questions when unsure.  A paralegal certificate or other legal education is a plus. 

The Docket Clerk will be responsible for calendaring court dates, deadline tracking and docketing maintenance across multiple jurisdictions.  This is an entry-level role designed for someone detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to build a foundation in litigation support and court procedures.  The Docket Clerk also provides timely reports of response dates on a regular basis and works on specific projects and research assignments.   

Requirements

Primary Duties Include but are not limited to: 

·       Review pleadings, correspondence, notices, and court orders for calendaring requirements. 

·       Accurately calculate deadlines in accordance with state, federal, appellate, and local court rules under the direction of legal assistants/attorneys. 

·       Enter deadlines into the firm's docketing/calendaring software, CourtAlert. 

·       Calendar hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, CMCs, and trial dates. 

·       Update existing calendar entries when instructed. 

·       Verify attorney/legal assistant instructions before calendaring unusual or ambiguous events. 

·       Assist with opening new matters and maintaining accurate case information in CourtAlert case profiles. 

·       Ensure all deadlines are entered timely and accurately. 

·       Communicate with legal assistants, paralegals, and attorneys regarding calendaring questions. 

·       Escalate complex calendaring issues to senior docket staff. 

·       Maintain organized records of docket requests and completed work. 

·       Follow departmental procedures and quality control standards. 

·       Meet departmental turnaround times and serve level expectations. 

·       Assist with overflow work when needed. 

·       Participate in training and continuing education on court rule changes. 

·       Maintain confidentiality of client information. 

·       Help prepare reports and deadline summaries 

Ideal candidate should have a very strong understanding of the litigation process as well as Federal, State and Local court rules and procedures, excellent computer skills with knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, MS Excel, and MS Office, including Outlook; excellent oral and written communication skills; exceptional attention to detail; able to work independently as well as with the team; Working well as a team in a congenial office; exceptional organizational skills. Experience with CourtAlert or other docketing programs is a plus. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.

Position is full-time, M-F with the possibility of some overtime. In-Person to start and transition to Hybrid 3x a week after three (3) months depending on progress.  Salary based on experience and includes an excellent benefit package. 

Salary: $50,000 - $70,000
