The Docketing Specialist will maintain accurate legal calendars, tracking deadlines, and providing service to attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update docketing calendars and databases for litigation, and other legal matters.
Enter, review, and manage deadlines in legal calendaring/docket system (CompuLaw or similar).
Research and apply federal, state, and jurisdiction-specific court rules and judicial preferences to determine deadlines.
Generate, proofread, and send out docket reports.
Ensure data accuracy by reviewing case records, entering new matters, and resolving discrepancies.
Maintain docket confirmations and supporting documentation.
Recommend process improvements and support docketing best practices.
Collaborate effectively with legal staff while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Qualifications
3-5 years of docketing experience in a law firm environment.
Knowledge of federal and state court rules, legal calendaring, and litigation procedures.
Experience with Microsoft Office required - CompuLaw, PACER, iManage or similar software highly desired
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
Customer-service oriented, detail-focused, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
