Essential Duties:

Document Control & Lifecycle Management

  • Establish & enforce document control procedures and standards
  • Manage document creation, revision, approval, issuance, and archiving
  • Ensure version control and prevent use of obsolete documents
  • Maintain document numbering and naming conventions

Engineering & Technical Coordination

  • Work closely with engineers of all departments (Winding, Assembly, Electrode, Controls, Visions, Formation), designers, and project managers
  • Ensure engineering drawing, specifications, calculations, and technical reports are properly reviewed and approved
  • Track changes, markups, redlines, and revisions
  • Support design change management (MOC / ECN processes)
  • Oversee the engineering design reviews to ensure compliance to established methods

Systems & Tools Management

  • Administer document management systems
  • Configure workflows, permissions, and metadata
  • Train users on document control tools and best practices
  • Ensure data integrity and backups

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards
  • Supports audits (Internal & External)
  • Ensure contractual and regulatory documentation requirements are met
  • Project & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage document deliverables and schedules
  • Interface with clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulators
  • Control transmittals, submittals, and correspondence
  • Monitor document KPIs (turnaround time, approvals, compliance)

Leadership & Governance

  • Lead and mentor document control teams
  • Develop document control strategies and roadmaps
  • Improve processes through standardization and automation
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and RACI matrices

Functional Leadership & Operations:

  • Leading and oversee the organization, storage, and retrieval of engineering documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports. Ensure that all documents are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders. 
  • Guides the entire Manufacturing Engineering Department to follow correct documentation processes and standards.
  • Establish standardization within Manufacturing Engineering Department for the following: doc control, drawing standardization, spare parts management, training department in best documentation practices, and aligning teams on project documentation best practices.
  • Providing managerial support related to daily engineering activities.
  • Guides & trains Engineers in proper design, drawing, and documentation practices.
  • Be the main point of contact for all engineering spare parts and spare part related activities.

Strategic Alignment & Continuous Improvement:

  • Works with all engineering to ensure product specifications and standards are achieved.
  • Supports the entire engineering department as the main point of contact for document control and spare parts practices.
  • Works with Engineering supervisors to delegate and assign spare parts and drawing tasks within the entire Manufacturing Engineering Department.

Team Development & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Lead the team in the implementation of new PLM process.
  • Leads Engineers in spare part documentation and replacement activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with engineering teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration regarding document-related issues. Provide training and support to team members on document control processes.
  • This position works with engineers from multiple teams, Manufacturing Engineers (ME’s), Controls, Vision, Electrode ME’s, Formation ME’s, and Assembly ME’s.
  • Work as the main point of contact (POC) for all PLM, PDM, AM, and Engineering drawing resources.
  • Be the main point of contact for all engineering spare parts and spare part related activities.

Quality, Safety, Compliance, & Risk Management:

  • Ensure department is following appropriate ISO rules.
  • Decreases risk management by ensuring teams document project materials correctly and in the correct locations to ensure team members can easily access needed data.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Originally this position will be an individual contributor with the potential to have future direct reports.  This position is a process control position working with the entire Manufacturing Engineering Department.

Travel Requirement: 

  • Occasional local travel between company facilities, as required to support operational needs

Qualifications:

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Required Education, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering- preferably Mechanical Engineering.

Preferred Education, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field

Essential Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience within a manufacturing, aerospace, or medical environment.
  • Proficient in GD&T.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are necessary to manage document control processes effectively.
  • In summary, a Document Control Manager in engineering plays a crucial role in ensuring that all project documentation is managed efficiently, securely, and in compliance with relevant standards, thereby supporting the overall success of engineering projects.
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Alignment to Panasonic’s seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of Engineering experience within a manufacturing, aerospace, or medical environment.
  • Needs to be expert in GD&T.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing procurement, preferably within the energy storage, automotive, medical, or electronics industries
