STARBASE Wright-Patt is a Department of Defense (DoD) educational outreach program managed locally by WPAFB Education Outreach office (WPEO) in cooperation with Beavercreek City Schools (BCS). It is designed to increase the knowledge, interest, and skills of area youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through inquiry-based curriculum with "hands-on, minds-on" experiential activities. STARBASE Wright-Patt is an immersive five-day, 25-hour STEM program for 5th graders, with innovative and engaging learning activities.
Description:
The program instructor/Deputy Director implements and instructs all STARBASE lessons, performing in a manner that inspires students and creates memorable, positive learning experiences. This position coordinates closely with another instructor and/or instructor assistant and reports directly to the Director. Work also involves analysis of instructional needs and development of lesson plans in alignment with DoD STARBASE curriculum standards. The Deputy Director oversees the curriculum development, submission, and implementation in cooperation with the instructor staff. The Deputy Director is responsible for all aspects of technology and supplemental programming. The Deputy Director will step in for the Director in their absence, but with limited authority.
NOTE: This is an Employee-At-Will position and is contingent upon continued DoD funding of the STARBASE Wright-Patt program.
