Dog Handler (Kennel/Animal Care Attendant)

Join Our Team as a Canine Handler!

The Dog Stop® is looking for enthusiastic Canine Handlers to join their team. Knowledge of the dog care industry is a plus but not required provided the candidate is capable of quickly learning the ins and outs of dog behavior and our range of services. This is not a casual or administrative position. As a Daycare Handler, your most crucial responsibility is to be on the floor and in the play yard for multiple hours at a time. This requires constant vigilance, high energy, and the ability to proactively manage a dynamic group of dogs without interruption. Your full attention must be on the dogs in your care at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.

*Please note: Weekend availability is mandatory.*

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Continuous Play Yard Supervision: Actively supervise and direct safe and positive play, overseeing dog interactions in large playgroups, and managing dog behavior using positive reinforcement techniques.

• Maintaining a Clean and Healthy Environment: Consistently clean and sanitize play areas and the facility while simultaneously supervising the dogs, following established protocols to ensure a hygienic environment.

• Dog Health and Behavior Monitoring: Provide regular updates on dog behavior, noting any incidents or concerns, and communicating effectively with shift managers to ensure smooth transitions.

• Positive Reinforcement and Engagement: Provide exceptional, hands-on care to all dogs, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience for every pup through active engagement.

• Contributing to a Positive Team Environment: Collaborating closely with other handlers, assisting with tasks as needed, maintaining a positive attitude, and fostering a supportive and respectful workplace.
