JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing social services to both walk-in and residential clients who are primarily of domestic violence and coordinates services with other Survivor Empowerment Center programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Admits and determines eligibility of walk-in clients, completes case planning for residential, transitional housing and walk-in clients, and provides advocacy, information and referral, and other appropriate services. (This responsibility may be delegated to intern and practicum students.)
2.Conducts morning meetings along with the facility manager to instruct residential clients of the Shelter on safety/emergency procedures and house rules, fill requests for personal care items and cleaning supplies, and plan and obtain items for household meals.
3.Documents all contacts with clients in individual client files and provides this documentation as requested.
4.Compiles statistical information monthly and reports it to the appropriate staff for inclusion in Survivor Empowerment Center reports.
5.Coordinates work activities with other Shelter program staff.
6.Recommends policy and programmatic changes to the domestic violence/shelter program coordinator when indicated.
7.Attends networking meetings as requested.
8.Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree preferably in a human service field or equivalent experience
• Counseling or case manager experience and training preferred
• Strong public speaking skills required
• Knowledge of sexual assault/domestic violence issues and previous training on those issues preferred
• Strong people and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and give
attention to detail
• Ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone
• Ability to work well with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and age groups, and with individuals who are differently-abled
• Ability to deal with stress-related situations
• Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamwork
• Must have a demonstrated commitment to women and non-violence through previous volunteer work or employment preferred
• Must be willing to complete the required 72-hours of training on working with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors within 6-months of employment
• Must have current driver's license, car with current automobile insurance, and be
willing to travel
