Job Summary: Supports FLETC dormitory cleanliness and maintenance by performing heavy-duty custodial tasks in common areas, stairwells, hallways, and exterior dormitory spaces. Ensure sanitary and safe conditions are consistently maintained in compliance with high cleanliness standards and federal safety requirements.
Location: Charleston, SC
Pay Rate: $17.75 per hour + $5.09 H&W per hour = $22.84 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and restroom sanitation within the dormitories.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, stairwells, laundry rooms, and common areas.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces within the communal areas of the dormitories.
- Collect and remove trash and debris from dormitory buildings.
- Replenish paper products and cleaning supplies as needed.
- Monitor cleanliness of outdoor spaces around dormitories.
- Report maintenance needs or safety concerns immediately.
- Follow all safety protocols for chemical handling, PPE usage, and equipment operation.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year custodial or porter experience in a commercial or institutional setting.
- Working knowledge of cleaning equipment, supplies, and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to follow cleaning protocols and handle chemical cleaning agents safely.
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50lbs, bending, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of English to follow instructions and communicate with staff.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Must pass background check and meet all site access requirements.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be eligible for DHS background investigation and suitability clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.
- This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.
- If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid driver’s license in good standing is a condition of employment.
- If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicle use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws.
- If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles.
- If operating Company-provided vehicles, you must immediately notify the Company if your driver’s license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if your driving privileges otherwise change.
- Work schedule will either be 0700 – 1600 or 0630 – 1530.
- Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.
