A Brief Overview
The DOT Safety Trainer is responsible for identifying training and development needs, developing a long-term training plan, and conducting classroom and onsite training related to new hire safety orientations equipment, practical job and equipment training, and confidence course sessions.

Pay Range: $32.00 - $37.00/hour


What you will do

  • Onboard new drivers into systems as needed. Keep records of onboarding training and safety documents
  • Monitoring and assisting in enforcement of DOT and FMCSA regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Becoming an expert of 3rd party safety software monitoring programs - helping write compliance SOPs for local leadership to implement best practices.
  • Partner with Driver Trainers to develop SOP and ensure successful implementation of procedural changes
  • Assist in identifying current product and process training and development needs.
  • In conjunction with select managers, develop a long-term training plans, course outlines, materials, and prioritization processes for defined training initiatives.
  • Train new associates on hand tools, power tools, etc. to be used onsite while performing the duties of their job.
  • Coordinate enrollment process and maintain training database.
  • Assess and track training effectiveness and provide manager with regular training status reports and tracking data.
  • Update training materials to ensure current policy, procedure, codes, industry specification, etc. are incorporated into training materials.
  • Ensure all necessary physical components for training are available and in working order.
  • Monitor, evaluate and communicate training participations and attendance to Manager
  • Maintain a current procedure manual of all assigned duties.
  • Ensures compliance with operational safety and security policies and procedures.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.

Experience Qualifications

  • Must have 5 plus years of experience in DOT or OSHA supervision or compliance tracking.


Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills required in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook, strong presentation, customer service and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to develop comprehensible and effective training materials.
  • Above average verbal/written communication presentation skills.
  • Able to meet goals within an environment that provides a great deal of latitude, creativity, and strategic planning for future training initiatives and programs


Licenses and Certifications

  • Must possess a valid Class A CDL license
  • NCCCO certification or ability to learn and train other on boom operations preferred.
