DepartmentOB/GYN Physicians Job Summary A birth/postpartum doula is a person trained to support families during childbirth and is an integral member of the inpatient birth team. Doulas provide continuous presence, information, emotional support, and physical comfort to a birthing person before, during, and immediately after childbirth. Doula care extends into the postpartum period, supporting breastfeeding and emotional and physical recovery from childbirth.
