Short Description

The Doula Mentor is an experienced, certified doula who supports the integration of community doulas into the clinical care environment by providing structured mentorship, guidance, and practice-based coaching. This role ensures doulas are equipped to function effectively as collaborative members of the interdisciplinary team while delivering culturally responsive, patient-centered care aligned with organizational standards and program goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide structured mentorship, coaching, and onboarding support to community doulas to strengthen competency and confidence in clinical practice
  • Facilitate integration of doulas into the interdisciplinary care team by promoting role clarity, collaboration, and effective communication
  • Observe and guide doula practice across prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum settings to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and program standards
  • Serve as a clinical and operational resource, offering real-time support, debriefing, and problem-solving for doulas in the care environment
  • Partner with program leadership to support training, workflow standardization, and continuous quality improvement aligned with organizational and grant goals.

Experience Required

2-4 years of experience preferred

Skills/Qualifications

Computer literate-email, Microsoft Office required

Experience supporting pregnant, laboring, postpartum patients preferred

Communication-Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers required

Registered and insured driver with a valid driver''s license and a personal vehicle required

Education Requirements

HS Diploma/GED required

Completion of a NJDOH recognized doula training program

License/Certification Requirements

Doula training from NJ DOH Recognized program required

BLS from AHA required

Special Requirements

Monday-Friday (Varied Hours/Flexible)
