Overview

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Material Planner / Downstream Flow Controller to manage material flow, production scheduling, and planning execution within a fast paced operations environment. This role is critical to ensuring materials availability, maintaining inventory targets, and supporting uninterrupted production through effective planning, coordination, and problem resolution.

The ideal candidate brings strong MRP and SAP experience, analytical thinking, and the ability to work cross functionally with planning, production, and supply chain teams.

Responsibilities

Material Planning & Inventory Management
  • Manage daily MRP exception messages (past due, expedite, push out, cancel)
  • Ensure material availability to support uninterrupted production
  • Monitor and meet inventory targets, including days of inventory
  • Expedite purchase orders with suppliers and manage shortages with clear prioritization
  • Review and update SAP purchase order due dates
  • Conduct monthly vendor forecast reviews and open order reviews with suppliers
  • Perform quarterly reviews of replenishment strategies (Kanban, ROP, MRP)
  • Review and adjust MRP planning parameters such as:
    • Safety stock
    • Lot sizes and rounding values
    • Lead times
    • Pallet quantities and lot sizing procedures
Production Scheduling & Execution (Downstream Flow)
  • Create and publish daily production schedules
  • Follow up on production order status, constraints, and execution barriers
  • Convert planned orders to production orders in SAP as needed
  • Review kitting and material availability issues with operations teams
  • Analyze missing parts through release simulations and assess impact on production start
  • Create and maintain missing parts files and coordinate ETA updates with upstream teams
  • Release production orders and sequence them appropriately by assembly
  • Track and support production schedule attainment
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Interface closely with MPS Planners, Production Schedulers, and upstream planning teams
  • Provide direction and problem resolution across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning efficiency and material flow

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field
  • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP), production scheduling, and inventory management
  • Hands on experience with ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Solid background in materials management methodologies
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to think on your feet, resolve issues, and improve processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in manufacturing or industrial production environments
  • Exposure to Kanban, ROP, and advanced replenishment strategies
  • Continuous improvement or operational excellence experience
