A major producer of quality cutting tools and tooling accessories is seeking a Drafter to join the team. This customer-facing role supports the design of custom tools and machine parts. The Drafter creates precise technical 2D drawings for CNC turning tools, threading inserts, and machine parts, and works closely with customers, machinists, and sales to ensure designs meet specifications.

Responsibilities:
Create precise technical 2D drawings in AutoCAD for CNC turning tools, threading inserts, and machine parts.
Verify that designs meet dimensional tolerances and quality specifications.
Work closely with customers and machinists to interpret design specifications, develop, and ensure all designs comply with the customers' standards.
Work with sales to accurately quote new parts.
Maintain drawings and records on a Windows-based server.
Inspection
Interpret blueprints.
Perform inspections.
Operate measurement tools.
Use computer software to document quality records.
Collaborate with machinists.
Inventory and Purchasing
Use an ERP system to update inventory records and for purchasing.
Reconcile physical incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and material test reports.
Negotiate pricing, track lead times, confirm delivery dates, and resolve shipping or pricing discrepancies with vendors.
Requirements:
2+ years of direct drafting experience, 5+ years preferred
Experience in a tool shop or CNC machine shop environment
Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D technical drawings
Ability to interpret customer drawings and specifications and develop corresponding designs
Experience with custom design work
Comfortable in a customer-facing role with occasional local travel
WordPress knowledge (preferred)
