Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Drafter III / Drafting Technologist III (Electrical) to support engineering drawing development and maintenance for pipeline and facility projects.

This position will work across multiple engineering disciplines, including electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and piping, translating engineering concepts, project deliverables, field redlines, site information, and as-built conditions into accurate technical drawings.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of oil & gas drafting experience, strong AutoCAD skills, and the ability to independently manage drawing updates and multiple project priorities while collaborating with engineering, operations, maintenance, field teams, and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain engineering drawings across electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and piping disciplines.
• Translate engineering concepts and project deliverables into accurate CAD drawings.
• Incorporate field redlines, site markups, photographs, and as-built information into final drawing packages.
• Develop and update P&IDs, plot plans, facility layouts, equipment drawings, and related technical drawings.
• Support preparation of Issued for Construction (IFC) and As-Built drawing packages.
• Maintain drawing revisions, revision history, documentation, and drawing control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure drawings meet established drafting standards and applicable industry practices.
• Review drawing information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies when project or field information is incomplete or evolving.
• Collaborate with engineers, Project Managers, Operations, Maintenance, field personnel, and external drafting/EPC providers.
• Support multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Help maintain accurate Process Safety Information (PSI) and engineering records.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of drafting experience within the oil & gas industry.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Demonstrated drafting experience across multiple engineering disciplines, including:
  • Electrical
  • Instrumentation
  • Mechanical
  • Piping
• Experience developing and updating P&IDs, plot plans, facility layouts, and equipment drawings.
• Ability to interpret and accurately incorporate field redlines, site photos, markups, and project documentation.
• Experience maintaining drawing revisions and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
• Ability to interpret incomplete or changing project information and independently resolve drawing discrepancies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a distributed project team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting pipeline and facility operations.
• Previous experience with Enbridge drawings, drafting standards, or systems, including LPDMS.
• Familiarity with Enbridge drafting standards DS 001, DS 002, and DS 003.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, control systems, and equipment/tagging conventions.
• Experience working with engineering records and Process Safety Information.
• Experience supporting IFC and As-Built drawing packages.
• Revit experience is an asset.

Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidate will be an experienced oil & gas drafter who can do more than simply execute markups. We're looking for someone who understands how engineering drawings fit into the larger project and facility environment, can work across electrical/I&C as well as piping and mechanical drawings, and is comfortable interpreting field information and resolving inconsistencies.

Someone with previous pipeline/facilities drafting experience, strong AutoCAD skills, P&ID experience, and Enbridge standards or LPDMS exposure would be particularly well aligned.

Important: This position is based in Duluth, Minnesota and follows a hybrid schedule requiring onsite work Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with remote work on Wednesday and Friday.
