Job Title: Mechanical Drafter

Job Description

This role focuses on developing and modifying mechanical equipment and industrial component designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD in an on-site manufacturing environment. You will manage multiple design projects simultaneously, maintain a high level of accuracy and detail, and independently resolve technical and mechanical design challenges. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality industrial equipment designs while working in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify detailed mechanical equipment and industrial component designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Create accurate 2D and 3D models, drawings, and documentation that meet project specifications and industry standards.
• Manage multiple design projects at the same time while meeting deadlines and maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Identify technical and mechanical design issues and independently develop effective solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and other stakeholders to ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with project requirements.
• Update and revise existing drawings and models based on feedback, design changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain organized design files and documentation, following established drafting and data management practices.
• Prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced environment to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Communicate clearly with team members and contribute to a culture of quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 3 years of mechanical drafting or design experience, preferably related to industrial equipment.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, with at least 3 years of hands-on SolidWorks experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for creating and modifying mechanical drawings.
• Excellent mechanical and technical problem-solving abilities, with the ability to independently resolve design challenges.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality drawings and models.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Drafting or a related technical field.
• Experience in mechanical drafting or design specifically related to industrial equipment.
• Experience using SolidWorks Vault PDM for managing design files and revisions.
• 7+ years of overall drafting or design experience is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality workmanship and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

This position is based in an on-site manufacturing environment and is primarily an office/desk role. You will work closely with engineering and production teams, using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and potentially SolidWorks Vault PDM on a daily basis. The work setting is fast-paced and project-driven, with multiple concurrent assignments and clear deadlines. The environment supports structured processes, organized documentation, and collaboration across functions. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maryville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $31.25/hr.
