Drafter

Overview:

GovCIO is seeking a Drafter/CAD Operator to provide SolidWorks and AutoCAD drafting support to the Navy’s Fleet Submarine Very Low and Low-Frequency Broadcast Engineering Support team. This is a fully onsite position located in North Charleston, SC.

Responsibilities:

3D Modeler / CAD Operator is responsible for creating accurate, high‑quality digital models, drawings, and technical documentation used in design, engineering, manufacturing, and visualization. This role supports cross‑functional teams by transforming concepts, sketches, and specifications into precise 3D assets and CAD files.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed 3D models based on engineering requirements, sketches, and reference materials.
• Produce technical drawings, CAD files, assemblies, and layouts for manufacturing or construction.
• Revise existing models and drawings to incorporate design changes or improvements.
• Maintain file organization, naming standards, and documentation for all models and CAD assets.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals.
• Perform quality checks on models and drawings to verify dimensions, tolerances, and structural accuracy.
• Prepare visual renderings or simulations when required for presentations or design reviews.
• Assist in refining modeling workflows and CAD standards to improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

High School with 6 - 9 years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

• Clearance Required: SECRET

 

• Proficiency in industry‑standard 3D modeling and CAD software (examples: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Blender, Rhino, or similar).
• Strong understanding of geometry, spatial reasoning, and technical drawing principles.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• High attention to detail and ability to follow precise guidelines.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Prior experience in engineering, architecture, product design, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.

Posted Salary Range: USD $80,000.00 - USD $90,000.00 /Yr.
