What Success Looks Like In This Job

To perform a variety of semi-skilled labor involved in the drainage maintenance program, including cleaning, and maintaining County drainage infrastructure and assist with special drainage maintenance projects under the supervision of the drainage maintenance crew leader. Work involves using lawn mowing equipment, specialized vehicles and a variety of light, medium, and heavy equipment for Public Works-Drainage Maintenance section. This position will report to the Drainage Maintenance Crew Leader

The anticipated hiring range for this role is $54,370.34-$62,525.89. The full salary range for the role is $54,370.34-$76,118.47.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Perform inspection, construction, maintenance, and repair activities to the County drainage infrastructure
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Assists in responding to customer complaints or problems utilizing the issue tracking database, inputting photo documentation with written description.
  • Operating specialized inspection equipment to identify issues and facilitate repair.
  • Assists in responding to emergency calls for service; assists in mitigating over?ow spills and damage as required.
  • Set up trac control and safety equipment when using vehicles on a street or other roadway; uses safety equipment and observes all safety procedures as specified by the County.
  • Identify stormwater infrastructure in need of repair or additional maintenance as found during routine video inspection and cleaning activities.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment related to work assignment as instructed.
  • Perform coned space entry, as necessary. Document construction projects and Video Inspection and Cleaning Program activities, prepare and maintain files and records of projects utilizing the County Project Management Database.
  • Keep accurate documentation of all aspects of any project daily.
  • Identify and resolve problems by gathering information or reviewing information gathered by others, analyzing the information, and resolving the problem or recommending the solution to the supervisor.

Qualifications for Success

  • Knowledge of the Colorado Stormwater Quality Regulations.
  • Ability to schedule assigned work.
  • Basic mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as applied to construction inspection work.
  • Knowledge of Construction testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of safe driving.
  • Operate modern office equipment including computer equipment. Operate a motor vehicle, and equipment safely.
  • Learn applicable laws, regulations, codes, and departmental policies governing the construction of assigned projects.
  • Understand and interpret engineering plans and specifications and prepare accurate engineering records.
  • Detect and locate faulty materials and poor work quality are most easily remedied. Perform inspections on drainage system.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Adobe Professional, MS Office Suite, Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible engineering, construction, construction inspection or related experience

Education and Training: High school diploma or GED equivalent. course work in construction technology, construction engineering or a related field is preferred.

License or Certificate:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid drivers license Class A CDL
  • CDOT Erosion Control Supervisor Certification.

Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.

Other: Ability to travel to other facilities as required within the scope of the job

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionally.
