We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and student-centered Drama Teacher to inspire elementary and middle school students through the performing arts. The ideal candidate will cultivate a love of theatre while helping students develop confidence, creativity, communication, collaboration, and performance skills.
This position teaches 45-minute drama classes to students in grades K–8, creating engaging, age-appropriate lessons that introduce theatre fundamentals while encouraging imagination and self-expression.
Responsibilities
Teach engaging 45-minute drama classes for elementary and middle school students.
Develop and implement standards-based theatre curriculum appropriate for multiple grade levels.
Introduce students to acting, improvisation, storytelling, stage movement, voice, character development, and basic theatre production.
Foster creativity, collaboration, confidence, and positive self-expression in a supportive classroom environment.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture where every student feels comfortable participating.
Plan and direct student performances, showcases, assemblies, or school productions as assigned.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
Maintain classroom materials, costumes, props, and theatre equipment.
Assess student growth and provide timely feedback.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Drama, Theatre Education, Performing Arts, Education, or a related field.
Valid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification, as required).
Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Passion for arts education and student development.
Preferred
Degree or certification in Theatre Education.
Experience directing student performances or school productions.
Knowledge of theatre arts standards and arts integration strategies.
Experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
