Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Dredge Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic cutterhead dredges and related marine and heavy equipment. This is a hands-on, field-based role that requires strong mechanical aptitude and proven diesel, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting capabilities. The position involves traveling to project locations throughout Texas and the Gulf Coast and supporting equipment reliability in demanding marine and construction environments.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, pumps, gearboxes, and related dredging equipment
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime
Respond to mechanical breakdowns and complete field repairs as needed
Inspect and monitor operating temperatures, fluid levels, pressures, and other critical equipment conditions
Maintain accurate daily maintenance, inspection, and repair records
Support dredge mobilizations, demobilizations, equipment setup, and field operations
Perform basic welding and fabrication when required
Coordinate closely with dredge operators, supervisors, and field management to identify and resolve equipment issues
Maintain tools, parts, and maintenance areas in safe working condition
Follow all safety procedures and environmental requirements
Requirements
Required skills and qualifications:
3+ years of experience in dredging, marine maintenance, heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, or a related field
Strong hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and hydraulic systems
Working knowledge of electrical systems, pumps, gearboxes, and mechanical equipment
Ability to diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs in field environments with minimal supervision
Nice to have:
Welding and fabrication experience
Preferred education and experience:
Preferred experience level: 3+ years in dredging, marine maintenance, heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, or a related field

Ability and willingness to travel throughout Texas and the Gulf Coast and remain out of town for extended periods
