Drill Crew Locator – Job Description
This position requires a licensed underground utility locator. No exceptions.
Responsibilities
- Use professional locating equipment to track the drill head underground
- Communicate real‑time depth, pitch, and direction to the drill operator
- Ensure the bore stays within approved alignment and depth tolerances
- Prevent utility strikes by maintaining safe clearances at all times
- Walk the bore path ahead of the drill and identify obstacles or hazards
- Confirm entry and exit points match the approved bore plan
- Mark the bore path and maintain constant visual control of alignment
- Assist with potholing and exposing utilities when required
- Help set up pits and maintain safe, compliant work zones
- Support the drill operator and ground crew as needed
This role is critical to safe drilling operations. Only licensed, qualified locators will be considered.
